Hello,
We apologize for the issue you are facing with your sitemap not being validated in Google Search Console and showing a "Couldn’t fetch" status. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:
1. Validate Your Sitemap
First, ensure that your sitemap is correctly configured. You can use the Validate XML Sitemap tool to check if there are any issues with your sitemap.
2. Ensure the Sitemap is Located in the Root Folder
Make sure your sitemap is located in the root folder of your WordPress installation. The URL should look like this:
https://rankmath.com/kb/google-site-verification/
3. Check Indexing Settings
Ensure that your posts are set to index. Go to Rank Math SEO → Titles & Meta and make sure the Index checkbox is enabled in the Robots Meta settings.
4. Flush the Cache
If your sitemap appears outdated, you may need to flush the sitemap cache. Navigate to Rank Math SEO → Sitemap Settings, increase the value of Links Per Sitemap by one, and then click Save Changes. After that, go to Settings → Permalinks and click Save Changes again.
5. Exclude the Sitemap From Caching
Make sure your sitemap is not being cached. You can refer to this knowledgebase article on ensuring that your sitemaps are excluded from caching.
6. Add the Correct Site URL to Google Search Console
Ensure that you have added the correct variation of your site URL in Google Search Console. You can check this in your WordPress dashboard under Settings → General.
7. Resubmit Your Sitemap
After performing these steps, try resubmitting your sitemap URL in Google Search Console again.
If you continue to experience issues after trying these steps, we recommend replying to this ticket with any additional details or errors you encounter, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.
Thank you for raising this concern, and we hope to help you resolve it soon!

Please follow the steps below:

add_filter( 'rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching', '__return_false');
Here’s how you can add filter to your WordPress site:https://rankmath.com/kb/wordpress-hooks-actions-filters/
4. Remove all your sitemaps from your Google Search Console and re-submit only the index sitemap (

)If the issue persists, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

I have tried adding site map link in google search console still status shows couldn’t fetch.
Please suggest further.
other than sharing credentials any other we can try ?
Hello,
It seems that you haven’t added any posts or pages to your site.
The sitemap should be generated once you have indexable pages on your site, so you should publish pages first and let us know if the sitemap is still showing 404.
Looking forward to helping you.
