  • Hello,

    We apologize for the issue you are facing with your sitemap not being generated. Since you’ve already flushed the permalinks, here are a few additional steps you can try:

    1. Check Sitemap Settings: Ensure that the Sitemap module is enabled in Rank Math. You can do this by navigating to Rank Math SEO → Sitemap Settings and confirming that the settings are correctly configured.

    2. Exclude Sitemap from Caching: Make sure your sitemap is not being cached. You can refer to our article on excluding sitemaps from caching for guidance.

    3. Disable Transient Caching: If the above solutions don’t work, you can add a filter to your theme’s rank-math.php file to disable transient caching of your sitemap:

      /**
      * Filter if XML sitemap transient cache is enabled.
      *
      * @param boolean $unsigned Enable cache or not, defaults to true
      */
      add_filter( 'rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching', '__return_false');
    4. Check for Plugin Conflicts: Sometimes, other plugins may conflict with Rank Math. You can use the Health Check plugin to identify any potential conflicts.

    5. Check for Content: Ensure that you have content on your website and that you are not blocking any posts/pages from appearing in your sitemap. You can check this in Rank Math SEO → Sitemap Settings.

    If you continue to experience issues, please reply to this ticket with your website URL so that a human agent from our support team can assist you further. Thank you for raising this concern!

    Any luck mate ?

    Hello,

    From your screenshot, you submitted your /sitemap_index.xml and the /page-sitemap, which is inside it.

    You should only submit your main sitemap /sitemap_index.xml, and Google will use it to crawl your sub-sitemaps.

    Also, in the screenshot, you’re referring to the IndexNow API, which is for Bing and Yandex search engines only:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/how-to-use-indexnow/

    You can follow our guide here to ensure that your site is already set to index:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/google-index/

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hey, I have tried to submit only main sitemap but still no luck. What should I do it is been a week since I have submitted it again.

    Here are screenshots.

    Hello,

    This might be a glitch on Google’s side, which means it could go away on its own in a few days. Sometimes Google shows the “couldn’t fetch” error instead of the “pending” status. We checked if Google can see your page using the Google Rich Test, and it can.

    You can also do this yourself by going to the Google URL Inspection Tool and entering your full sitemap URL. Then click “Live Test” (https://i.rankmath.com/i/qi72Gd) and switch to the Source tab (https://i.rankmath.com/i/VHkaDV). You should see the XML content of your sitemap there. If you do, then it means Google can fetch your content, and the error on your search console is just a temporary glitch on Google’s end.

    In addition, you can try to flush the Sitemap cache one more time by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    Once done, clear your website cache, remove all the submitted sitemaps, and resubmit only the /sitemap_index.xml in the Search Console.

    Hope this helps, and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Thank you.

    If that is the case then why I am getting robot noindex response in sitemap response headers ?
    Also check the google response complaining the same problem.

    Check if your sitemap plugin or generator is enabled and configured correctly. Then try regenerating it.

    Sitemap is generated by rankmath which is your plugin and I have not added or enabled any setting which adds noindex for sitemap. Are you willing to solve the problem or just intereted in prolonging the issue ?

    Any luck guys ?

    Hello,

    Please note that RankMath sets the “noindex” tag on your sitemaps by default. It’s done this way because a sitemap is only meant to guide search engines through your site, not to rank in search results.

    The reason you’re seeing it set to “noindex” is to prevent it from appearing in search results, which is the desired behavior.

    You should follow this guide to properly submit your sitemap:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/submit-sitemap-to-google/

    Also, based on the screenshot you shared, the page-sitemap hasn’t been crawled. You should give Google some time to recrawl your site and wait for the “Last read” column to be updated.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hi, I have submitted sitemap properly and last read is also updated and it is still even not able to discover count of URLs.
    Multiple times in the past google tried to read it but same results.

    Now please fix and do not come up with another excuse. Or else I will start complaining all this on your socials. Thanks

    Hello,

    In your screenshot, Google has accepted your sitemap hence the “Success” status. Meaning your sitemap is working fine when Google last crawled it.

    The zero discovered URL means that Google didn’t use the sitemap to find your content URLs.

    It mostly happens when you have good internal linking or use the Instant Indexing plugin.

    In this case, you either have to wait for the search engines to completely crawl the sitemaps or let it be since sitemaps are just a backup crawling mechanism for search engines. Usually, the URLs are discovered via other means such as internal links or backlinks.

    With that said, we can see right now your sitemap is returning a blank page so we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

    Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.

    Sensitive Data Section

    It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

    We really look forward to helping you.
