Sitemap index not found(error 404)

    Rank Math free

I created new post types and I think some conflict was created. Now the main link leading to the sitemap index returns a 404 error, the same the sitemap links to the new post types. While posts and standard wordpress pages have a working link.

I have tried regenerating permalinks and following various attempts as mentioned in the video on Rank Math site for troubleshooting. I even used the database tool to recreate indexing, but nothing worked.

All I would like to do is delete the old one and regenerate a new sitemap. how do I do that?

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Could you please share your sitemap URL with us so that we can check the issue further for you?

Meanwhile, please try to follow the steps below and see if that works for you:

    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested and I’ve already tried Flush the Sitemap, also lite speed is deactivated.

    Can you please check further?
    Thank you.

    Hello,

We might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.

    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested.
Please tell me exactly what you change, or if the changes are simple, tell me what to do, thank you.

    Hello,

Please also include your website’s FTP login so we can debug this further from our end.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

We checked your website and found there is no post/page created on your website. So, there is nothing to add to the sitemap and that’s why it is returning a 404 error.

Once you add any post/page on your website, the sitemap will work automatically.

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.
