sitemap giving a 404

#954553
  • Hi

My sitemaps have gone missing. I read your articles, clicked save on p[ermalinkns, and then went into sitemap and updated my entries to 205. (It was 204).

My sitemap is definitely back… BUT, my question. Do I need to do anything on Google Search console???

Another thing, why is this happening, it’s not the first time for me..?

    regards, Bruce

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with your sitemap. It’s great to hear that your sitemap is back after updating the permalinks.

Regarding your question about Google Search Console, yes, it is a good practice to resubmit your sitemap in Google Search Console after making changes. You can do this by going to the Sitemaps section in Google Search Console and entering your sitemap URL (e.g., https://yourdomainname/sitemap_index.xml). This will help Google crawl and index your pages more effectively.

As for why this issue keeps happening, it could be due to various reasons such as plugin conflicts, server issues, or incorrect settings in your WordPress configuration. If this continues to be a recurring problem, we recommend checking for any plugin conflicts using the Health Check plugin and ensuring that your server settings are correctly configured.

Thank you for raising this concern! If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to reply to this ticket.
