Hello,
Thank you for getting in touch with us.
Could you please check the following:
1. Is the sitemap working fine in your browser? You can check that by going domain(.)com/sitemap_index.xml
If the sitemap is working fine, you can try validating it on this link: https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/validate-xml-sitemap.html
If the validation works, please move to the second point.
2. Have you verified the correct version of your website on Google? Please check if you have verified the www (or non-www) and https (or http) version of your website. If there is a mismatch, please fix that.
3. Finally, make sure you have cleared the cache and excluded Google bot from seeing a cached version of your sitemap.
If you have followed these and you are able to view your sitemap without any problem, then Rank Math is outputting your sitemap correctly and the error must be coming from Google. You can try and use a 3rd party sitemap plugin to confirm. Just make sure you have disabled the Sitemap module of Rank Math in WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Dashboard
when using a 3rd party sitemap plugin.
If the other plugin works, please do let us know.
Thank you.
Hello,
I wanted to add that It looks like you are serving a cached version of your sitemap from HummingBird to Google and your visitors.
https://i.rankmath.com/MRby8e
You must add all the sitemap file locations to the exclusion list in your Cache plugin so that the sitemaps are never cached. These are the files you must add to the exclusion list:
sitemap_index.xml
post-sitemap.xml
page-sitemap.xml
category-sitemap.xml
product-sitemap.xml
This is required since Sitemaps are already cached internally by Rank Math and we flush them everytime you post something new and with our cache – you won’t see the issue you are seeing in Google.
Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
Thank you for your response. I have added this
sitemap_index.xml
post-sitemap.xml
page-sitemap.xml
category-sitemap.xml
product-sitemap.xml
To the exclusion directory on Hummingbird
How ever when I tried to validate the map on XML validator. The error message was sitemap contain invalid UT-F8.
Please assist me further

Hello,
That is weird.
To rule out that is indeed something caused by Rank Math, please:
1. Disable the sitemaps in Rank Math by going to WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Dashboard
2. Install a 3rd party Sitemap plugin like this:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/google-sitemap-generator/
3. Submit the new Sitemap to Google and remove the old one.
4. If the issue persists, then it is caused by your server cache.
If the issue goes away, please share your WP and FTP details so we can take a closer look.
We look forward to hearing back from you.
Dear all,
Please know that sitemap works perfectly on the third party sitemap plugin.
What do you mean by WP- is it my login details? Please let me know.
