I checked the sitemap URLs with https://httpstatus.io/, and all variations of the sitemap are returning 200 status.
Check the screenshot in the sensitive data section of this ticket.
Please follow this guide and redirect to a final variation:
https://rankmath.com/kb/couldnt-fetch-error-google-search-console/#num-5-4-redirect-all-three-other-versions-to-your-preferred-variation
Once done, clear your website cache and remove all the sitemaps and submit sitemap_index.xml in the Search Console.

this .htacess method Nginx method stuff looks really complex is it really meant to be that difficult? I messaged my hosting provider to see if they can help now they’re saying I need a developer.. surely it’s not that hard.. I’m very tech illiterate is there a more straight forward way of doing this? thanks for your help thus far

login details have been updated. Also it says sitemap status = success now?? I didn’t change anything since we last spoke can you still double check that the 3 webs are pointing to the last 1 as per the instructions you sent me?

I tried modifying the .htaccess file but the rules I added don’t seem to work. It seems that there’s another server rule that might be ignoring the rules I added.
Can you please check this one with your hosting provider as they may be able to help you resolve the sitemap variations?

I checked the sitemap URLs, all the URLs are still returning 200 status, you can check with https://httpstatus.io/
I’ll suggest you get in touch with your web host and ask them to add the redirect the sitemap URLs to a final variation.

The URLs are still not redirected to the final variation.
If your web host has already redirected to the final variation, please clear your website cache, and if you are using a CDN, purge the cache from there as well.
Once done, remove all the sitemaps from the Search Console and submit sitemap_index.xml.
