I’ve added again your sitemaps but i’ve received again code 404 on 3 on 4 sitemps under main sitemap. https://imgur.com/a/m0D35XB

I’ve got same trouble when i’ve used sitemap generated by hosting and i was back from your sitemaps. I’ve done this and code 404 are back.

And if mine troubles come because i try to resend these sitemaps and after are (fakely) ok? Maybe you should check before i resent to Search console to verify erreos and later i’ll resend these sitemaps.

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the 404 errors on your sitemaps. It seems that the sitemap index is not being found, which can happen for a few reasons. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

    1. Flush Permalinks: Sometimes, simply saving the permalinks can resolve 404 errors. Go to your WordPress dashboard, navigate to Settings → Permalinks, and click Save Changes without making any changes.

    2. Check Sitemap URL: Ensure that your sitemap URL is correct. It should be in the format: https://yourdomainname.com/sitemap_index.xml.

    3. Server Configuration: Check your web server settings to ensure it is configured to return a 200 status code for existing pages and a 404 for missing pages. If your server is not set up correctly, it may return a 200 status code for non-existent pages.

    4. Check for Plugin Conflicts: Sometimes, other plugins can conflict with Rank Math. You can use the Health Check plugin to identify any potential conflicts.

    5. Clear Cache: If you are using any caching plugins, make sure to clear your cache after making changes to your sitemap settings.

    6. Validate Your Sitemap: Use the Validate XML Sitemap tool to check if your sitemap is correctly configured.

If you continue to experience issues, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you further. Thank you for raising this concern, and we hope to resolve it soon!

You told me to have only the main sitemap on Search console, but then I don’t see the errors from the other sitemaps. This is the second time this happens.

I added another sitemap and it gives an error. I reload the Search Console page and the problem is there. Then, I insert another sitemap and the problem is solved. As I feared, the validation may not be true and have problems with your sitemaps.

    Hello,

From the screenshot you shared the last time Google read the sitemap was on the 2nd of November:

Please note that when you submit your sitemap on GSC, it takes some time to crawl and process it fully.

In case, you’ve been facing this issue for a long time then you can remove all your submitted sitemaps and resubmit your /?sitemap=1 only to your Google Search Console.

Once done, give Google some time to recrawl your sitemaps. You can monitor the “Last read/crawl date” column in the sitemap index as it will update the date when Google crawls your sitemap.

Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you
