Sitemap can be read, but has errors

    In the Google search console, the ‘/post-sitemap.xml’ says it can be read but has errors. The error is “Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format instead.” This is odd because the ‘/page-sitemap.xml’ is reading as a success.

    I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the plugin and that still has not fixed it. I also saved permalinks and saved the Sitemap settings in the plugin.

    How can I solve this issue?

    The most common cause of this issue is aggressive caching on the server/site that causes the search engine not to load the file the expected format.

    Please purge your page cache and then check if this will fix the issue.
