Hello,
We apologize for the issue you are facing with your Rank Math sitemap showing a blank page. It seems like you’ve already done some troubleshooting, which is great. Here are a few steps you can take to further investigate and potentially resolve the issue:
-
Check the Source Code: First, check the source code of your sitemap page to see if it is truly blank or if there is any data present. You can do this by right-clicking on the page and selecting "View Page Source". If the source code is empty, it indicates a conflict with another plugin or theme.
-
Flush Permalinks: Sometimes, flushing the permalinks can resolve sitemap issues. You can do this by going to Settings → Permalinks in your WordPress admin area and clicking the "Save Changes" button without making any changes.

-
Check for Plugin Conflicts: Use the Health Check plugin to identify if there are any conflicts with other plugins or your theme.
-
Caching Issues: Ensure that your caching plugin (if you have one) is not caching the sitemap. You may need to exclude the sitemap from being cached. You can find more information on how to do this in our guide on excluding sitemaps from caching.
-
Static File Conflict: Check if there is a static file named sitemap_index.xml on your server that might be conflicting with Rank Math’s dynamic sitemap generation. If such a file exists, consider removing it.
-
Server Configuration: If you are using Apache or Nginx, ensure that the necessary rewrite rules are correctly set up in your .htaccess or Nginx configuration file, respectively. You can refer to our documentation for Apache and Nginx configurations.
If after trying these steps the issue persists, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will take over and assist you further.
Thank you for your patience, and we hope to resolve this issue for you soon!
Hello,
Thank you for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.
It seems like the issue is related to the XML encoding of your sitemap. The error indicates that an undefined entity (á or á) is causing the problem.
You need to make sure that the HTML Character Encoding is set to UTF-8.
Once done, clear your website caches and the sitemap should load without any issues.
If the issue persists, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/
You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/
We really look forward to helping you.
Hi, thanks for the reply, since I’m not a developer (and I’m using WordPress + Elementor, as many times before), can you explain where I should go in my website to resolve the issue?
Hello,
You can access your WordPress database and check the table wp_options. You’ll notice entries like blogname with Unicode characters instead of the correct characters in there.
To be more specific, you may take a look and see if you find a similar entry like á in the option_value column. Here is an example below for your reference:

Please try to replace this entry with á, and then the sitemap should start working fine again.
If you’re not sure how to do that, you can share your WordPress and FTP logins in the sensitive data section so that we can fix this for you.
Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.
Thank you.
Hello,
I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?
Thank you.
Hi, thanks for the responde, done that amd still not displaying the sitemap. Any other ideas?
Hello,
Please follow the steps below:
1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp
2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/
3. Apply the following filter code to your site.
add_filter( 'rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching', '__return_false');
Here’s how you can add filter to your WordPress site:https://rankmath.com/kb/wordpress-hooks-actions-filters/
Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to helping you.
Hi, I’ve done all the steps, plus added the code filter through a php file in the theme, just as explained in the tutorials.
Still ain’t working :S
Hello,
We checked your sitemap and we can see right now it is working properly without any issues:

If you’re facing any issues on Google Search Console, please clear your website cache, remove all the submitted sitemaps, and resubmit only the /sitemap_index.xml in the Search Console.
Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.
Thank you.
