Sitemap 404 error not going away

    Hello,

    After updating RM to latest update, I am getting sitemap 404 error. After clicking “Save” button on Permalink and RankM sitemap section..It fix it temporary but then when I check it again after few hours..It gives 404 error again. I am getting 404 error on search console as well.

    Also, I noticed that now when I look for example.com/sitemap.xml ..it doesnt redirect to example.com/sitemap_index.xml before update..it used to redirect.

    I don’t have any other SEO plugin and Cache plugin. No idea what causing this error.

    I have given login details in Sensitive data..please have a look at my website. thank you

    The redirection is working as expected. Your source URL is redirecting to the set destination(https://freeprosoftz.com/power-iso-pro-full-crack-latest-version/). However the destination URL is a 404 page.

    When the fallback is set to homepage(Rank math > General Settings > Redirections), 404 URLs such as this one will usually redirect to home page. Currently the fallback behavior is set to Default 404 and therefore the redirection goes to a 404 page.

    I just checked and confirmed..It is not redirecting to any other website link..I checked on 3 different devices.

    I checked on private window https://example.com/sitemap_index.xml and it again gave me 404 error.

    Oops! That page can’t be found.

    It looks like nothing was found at this location. Maybe try searching?
    Search for:

    If I hit on permalink save button or rankmath sitemap save button..it will work again but hours later…when I recheck..it gives 404 error.

    even in search console..I am getting sitemap errors…However I have done said method multiple times to fix it but no luck.

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    Your sitemap is being cached, probably by your server, check the screenshot I have attached in the sensitive section. Resaving the permalink flushes the cache and allows the sitemap to load but it gets cached again and the issue recurs.

    To resolve this, please contact your hos to exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin from being cached from the server. You can follow this article: https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

    And when done, flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
