This problem keeps repeating itself. I can’t edit the NGIX server. My web hosting says it’s a shared server, is there another solution to the 404 error in SITEMAP on my site? What should I do?

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the 404 error in your sitemap. Since you mentioned that you cannot edit the Nginx server configuration and are on a shared hosting plan, here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

    1. Check if the Sitemap Loads: First, visit _yourdomain.com?sitemap=1_ to see if your sitemap loads correctly. If it does, this indicates that the sitemap is being generated but may not be accessible due to server settings.

    2. Contact Your Hosting Provider: Since you are on a shared server, your hosting provider may have specific configurations or limitations. Reach out to them and explain the issue with the sitemap returning a 404 error. They might be able to assist you in adjusting the server settings or provide a workaround.

    3. Use Rank Math Support: If the issue persists, consider reaching out to Rank Math support directly through your ticket. A human agent can provide more tailored assistance based on your specific setup.

    4. Check for Plugin Conflicts: Sometimes, other plugins can interfere with sitemap generation. Temporarily disable other plugins to see if that resolves the issue.

    5. Review .htaccess File: If you have access to the .htaccess file (common in Apache servers), ensure that there are no conflicting rules that might affect the sitemap.

For more detailed guidance on fixing sitemap issues, you can refer to our documentation here: Rank Math Sitemap Issues and Their Fixes.

Thank you for raising this concern, and we hope these steps help resolve your sitemap issue!

This is the error: Since you are using an NGINX server, you may need to add the following code to your configuration file if your Sitemap pages are not loading. If you are unsure how to do it, please contact your hosting provider. Click here to see the code.

    How do you solve it?

    Hello,

We checked your sitemap and we can see it is working properly without any issues:

In this case, you don’t need to add any code to your NGINX server. You can simply dismiss the notification as it is only for your reference if your sitemap doesn’t work.

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.
