    Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    If you have any caching plugin, please exclude your sitemap URLs from caching and purge your site cache then do the following:

    1. Head over to WordPress Dashboard > Settings > Permalinks

    Hit the save button once.

    2. Go to WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Sitemap Settings

    Hit the save button once.

    That should fix the issue.

    You can test your sitemap in a private browser to avoid browser caching. If the sitemap appears fine, please remove and resubmit the main sitemap in your GSC.

    If the issue persists, please do let us know so we can look at this further.

    I carried out the above steps but it hasn’t resolved the issue. It is reading the sitemap_index but only showing the product_cat-sitemap with 3 url’s?

    Did you try to resubmit your sitemap? Could you please click on the sitemap with the error to get the details of the error and share a screenshot with us, you can upload to https://imgur.com and share the URL.

    You seem to have submitted your product and page sitemap. We recommend to submit only the main sitemap to your GSC. Please remove those and click on the submitted sitemap_index.xml, they should be added there automatically. Let us know how it goes.

    It seems your sitemap is still being cached. Please add the following under the list to never cache :

    
    /(.*)sitemap(.*).xml
    /(.*)sitemap.xsl
    

    You should also confirm if you have any server related caching.

    After that, please resave the permalinks and resubmit your sitemap on GSC. That should fix the issue.

    If not, you can try and use a 3rd party sitemap plugin. Just make sure you have disabled the Sitemap module of Rank Math in WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Dashboard when using a 3rd party sitemap plugin.
