I was not able to reproduce this issue on my dev setup, even with similar settings as yours, but noticed an issue with your setup; when RankMath plugin is not active, some categories redirect to the homepage.
Could you please include the FTP details to the site, and share at least 3+ URLs of the affected pages, as well.
We look forward to having this issue resolved.

Thanks for sharing the FTP login. However, after logging into your FTP server, we can only access an empty folder.

The FTP still shows empty folder with only ftpquota file, and also the admin access is no longer working. Plese regenerate the temporary login link and share the working FTP access.

Thank you for providing the WP admin login again. However, the FTP access you provided still gives us only the ftpquota folder and your site’s folder isn’t listed so we can’t continue the debugging:

On your main menu, there’s a mix up of category ( archive ) links and pages links. All the pages have the image at the top, but the categories don’t.
For example :
* https://faunadiscovery.com/canines/ ( on main menu ) VS
* https://faunadiscovery.com/mammals/canines/
When you edit the page ( see image below ), it has the featured image in the editor.
but on category page, there’s no option to edit the category template, just the option to edit the category itself.
How are you adding the image at the top on category pages? ( This might help us resolve the issue quicker ).
Also the FTP details still point to an empty directory.

I added the images as a normal image on the page I am editing.
The problem is not that I can’t add the image. The problem is that the messed up pages will not update any info, text, etc.
The affected pages won’t update any edits that are made. I can not add a title, text, or anything else to the pages.
Even if I delete everything from the messed up page, the page still shows the old messed up version.
I apologize, what login do you need to access the FTP? I thought you would be able to access it via cpanel.

No the Cpanel details are not complete, please add the Cpanel URL as well.
The pages with the issue are category (archive pages ) eg https://faunadiscovery.com/avian/
and they don’t seem to have the option to add a header image. Could you please share a screencast where you attempt to make the changes ( updates ). You may try a tool like https://www.loom.com/
