Hello – I’m confused by an issue with my website https://marchgallery.org/

I’ve set the site title within RankMath, Divi Builder, and WordPress to be MARCH. But on the Google search page, it is appearing as “March gallery.” I can’t figure out where this is coming from. I’ve linked to a screenshot of the google search page as well as how the site title is set within RankMath on my site. Any help in figuring this out would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

I’ve checked your homepage, and it seems that Rank Math is already outputting the correct title tag in the page’s source code. You can also verify that using this tool: https://heymeta.com

In this case, you can check this link for more information on why Google chooses a different meta title on the search results page:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/different-meta-title-and-description/#page-title-rewrites

Please note that if everything’s fine and Google still decides to show a different meta title/description for your search keyword, there is nothing you can do as Google sometimes ignores the custom meta info altogether and show something from the page’s content that matches the search intent better.

The best you can do is optimize your meta tags to try and match the intent of the search/keyword.

    I hope that helps.

Thank you, and please don’t hesitate to contact us anytime if you need further assistance with anything else.

    Hey Reinelle –

Thanks for getting back to me. Do you think the focus keywords that I set for a page will effect the way Google shows the site title for that page?

    Hello,

No, the focus keyword is only for helping you in optimizing the contents of the page. It has no effect on the title of search results.

With that being said, the correct site title of your website is indexed on Google. Here’s a screencast: https://i.rankmath.com/wwrnSV

Since you’re searching the website based on a keyword, it is totally normal for Google to use the content from the page that matches the user’s search intent better.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you.

This does help, thank you for explaining.
