#1112943
  • Hello Rank Math Support Team,

I recently switched my SEO plugin from SiteSEO to Rank Math on my website etimes247.ng. Since making the change, I’ve noticed that my site is not indexing properly on search engines.

Could you please help me understand what might be causing this issue and guide me on how to resolve it? I would appreciate any assistance in identifying the problem and restoring proper indexing.

    Thank you for your support.

    Best regards,
    Faisal Salisu

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with your site not indexing properly after switching to Rank Math. Thank you for raising this concern.

There are several factors that could affect the indexing of your site:

    1. Search Engine Visibility: Ensure that the Search engine visibility option is unchecked in your WordPress settings. You can check this by navigating to Settings → Reading in your WordPress admin dashboard. If this option is checked, it may prevent search engines from indexing your site.

    2. Meta Tags: Make sure that the meta tags set by Rank Math are configured correctly. Incorrect meta tags can lead to indexing issues. You can refer to our detailed setup guide here for assistance.

    3. Sitemap: Ensure that your sitemap is updated and submitted to Google Search Console. This helps search engines discover your pages more efficiently.

    4. Instant Indexing: If you want to speed up the indexing process, consider using Rank Math’s Instant Indexing feature. You can enable this module and submit your pages for indexing directly from your dashboard.

    5. Google Search Console: Check Google Search Console for any errors or messages regarding your site’s indexing status. This can provide insights into what might be causing the issue.

If you continue to experience problems, please reply to this ticket with any specific error messages you see in Google Search Console, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.

We hope this helps you resolve the indexing issue!

    Hello,

Thank you for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.

We checked your website on the SERP and we can confirm that there are only 3 pages indexed.

Please check for URLs in your Google Search Console and look for any coverage issues that may tell us why your website is not being indexed on the SERP. You may refer to this guide: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/7440203?hl=en

Also, we see your sitemap is not generated by Rank Math and is not working as intended. Please make sure to enable the plugin’s sitemap and follow the steps below:

    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:

    3. Apply the following filter code to your site.

    add_filter( 'rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching', '__return_false');

Here’s how you can add filter to your WordPress site:https://rankmath.com/kb/wordpress-hooks-actions-filters/

    4. Remove all your sitemaps from your Google Search Console and re-submit only the index sitemap (https://website.com/sitemap_index.xml)

    Looking forward to helping you.
