    Hello,

    I see the sitemap index is there at my site as sitemap_index.xml. However, the XML Validation Results show below error:

    “Incorrect http header content-type: “text/html; charset=UTF-8” (expected: “application/xml”)”

    I have tried save permalinks and sitemaps settings as well as deactivate plugin one by one but issue still exists. Please kindly HELP!

    I checked your sitemap and it is loading perfectly fine from my end. I also validated the sitemap URLs on this link: https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/validate-xml-sitemap.html

    Have you verified the correct version of your website on Google? Please check if you have verified the www (or non-www) and https (or http) version of your website. If there is a mismatch, please fix that.

    You should also make sure you have cleared the cache and excluded Google bot from seeing a cached version of your sitemap.

    Once done, please resubmit your main sitemap (ONLY: sitemap_index.xml) on your GSC and give it sometime to crawl.

    If you you are able to view your sitemap without any problem, then Rank Math is outputting your sitemap correctly and the error must be coming from Google. You can try and use a 3rd party sitemap plugin to confirm. Just make sure you have disabled the Sitemap module of Rank Math in WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Dashboard when using a 3rd party sitemap plugin.

    If the other plugin works, please do let us know.

    I assume you are still using the third party plugin for your sitemap since I am getting a 404 page when trying to access Rank math sitemap URL for your site.

    If you wish we can take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

    Since you had disabled the sitemap module, I enabled it temporarily, went through the sitemap and everything seems to be fine.

    When switching back to Rank math sitemap, please go through the following:

    — Ensure you have disabled the other sitemap plugin to avoid conflicts

    — Go to WordPress dashboard> Settings > Permalinks and Hit the save button then head to Rank math > Sitemap Settings and save the settings there too.

    — Check your sitemap in a private browser and if it loads fine validate the sitemap URLs on this link: https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/validate-xml-sitemap.html

    — If the validation is successful with no issues, remove any submitted sitemap on your GSC and resubmit only the main sitemap. Give it sometime and let us know how it goes.
