Site Map Couldn’t fetch

Hello, I have been trying for several weeks to submit the sitemap for Comenta.click. The URL is: https://comenta.click/sitemap_index.xml
However, Google Search Console gives me an error: “Couldn’t fetch.”

When inspecting the sitemap page in Search Console, it shows the following:

Page cannot be indexed: Excluded by ‘noindex’ tag

The site is hosted on GoDaddy on a managed WordPress plan. I contacted them, and they confirmed that there are no issues on their end and suggested I check with the plugin providers.

I have already deleted the plugin, reinstalled it, and cleared the cache. I don’t know what else to do.

    I need help! Thanks,
    Matías Rossi

  • Hello,

Thanks for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

We can check that both the non-WWW and the WWW version of your sitemap are returning a 200 status.

Only one version of your sitemap should return the 200 status code and all other versions should be redirected to the preferred version of your sitemap. Please follow this guide to fix the issue: https://rankmath.com/kb/couldnt-fetch-error-google-search-console/#num-5-4-redirect-all-three-other-versions-to-your-preferred-variation

Once done, please remove all previously submitted sitemaps from your GSC account and resubmit your main sitemap(sitemap_index.xml).

Hope this helps. Let us know if you need any other assistance.

    Thanks.

    Thanks for your reply

There is no #num-5-4-redirect-all-three-other-versions-to-your-preferred-variation in the link that you share me. The explain ends at 3.3.
    Thanks again

    Hello,

Sorry about that. The guide was updated so we suggest checking this guide: https://rankmath.com/kb/how-to-redirect-www-urls-to-non-www/

You need to make sure that all your sitemap variations www, non-www, https and http will redirect to the same final variation which is https://comenta.click/sitemap_index.xml.

You can contact your hosting provider to assist you with this as well.

Also, please note that it is expected for the sitemap to have noindex as you don’t want the sitemap to get indexed on the SERP.

Please refrain from submitting your sitemap in Google’s URL Inspection tool. The correct way to submit your sitemap to Google is by following this guide: https://rankmath.com/kb/submit-sitemap-to-google/

After addressing the variation of your sitemap, please follow the steps below:

    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

    3. Apply the following filter code to your site.

    add_filter( 'rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching', '__return_false');

Here’s how you can add filter to your WordPress site:https://rankmath.com/kb/wordpress-hooks-actions-filters/

    4. Remove all existing sitemaps from your GSC and submit only the primary one https://comenta.click/sitemap_index.xml.

If the issue persists, please share a full screenshot of the sitemap section in your GSC account containing its full report.

    Looking forward to helping you.
