Site Hack- URL Redirecting - Support

Hello,

I updated RankMath to the latest Update and next morning when I tried to visit my site, it was redirecting to the site letsmakeparty3-ga (not safe to open- trojans infected).

My homepage and Admin both URL were redirecting to that trojans site(Avast security gave alert & blocked it).

I contact my host support. They tried to check and do some changes in a config file etc to fix it but no luck. Finally, they asked me to restore the backup for which I agreed.

that virus also did many changes in my wp files and folder ..I have attached a screenshot.

I have no idea what causes that and to avoid it to happen again in the future. I looked around asking people about it. A few of them from the blogging community on Telegram told me it is due to Rankmath and asked me to deactivate it.
I don’t believe them but I afraid enough so I deactivated rankmath.

RankMath is my most favorite Seo Plugin and I want to keep it, indeed I am in love with Rankmath. Can you guys confirm if there is any security issue with the latest update?

The Rank Math plugin is not causing the issue in this case.

Same happened with one of my client’s sites and he did not have Rank Math SEO plugin. Fortunately, I was able to recover his site completely.

Let me know if you need my time removing this malware for you.

Thank You Staff for confirmation..Yes, on-site check I did found a installed plugin that was abandoned by the developer (the last update was in 2017).

anyways..I have reactivated Rank Math on all my 3 sites..thank you
