I am a RankMath user. I’ve been using Rank Math for months now. I noticed some weeks ago that my site, which was previously ranking on page one of Google, is now nowhere to be found on Google. Please, what is the cause of this, and how can I fix it?

Please, I really need a solution to this

    Thank you

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with your website disappearing from Google search results. There are several potential causes for this, and we can help guide you through some troubleshooting steps:

    1. Check if Google is Blocked from Crawling Your Site

Make sure that your robots.txt file is not blocking Google from crawling your site. You can use the robots.txt testing tool to check your file.

    2. Monitor Your Site’s Indexation Status

Use the Google Search Console to monitor your website’s indexation status. This tool will show you any errors that Google has encountered while trying to crawl and index your site. Additionally, you can check the Index Status report in Rank Math’s Analytics by navigating to Rank Math SEO → Analytics in your WordPress dashboard and clicking on the Index Status tab.

    3. Security Issues

Check if there are any security issues with your site. Google may penalize your website if it detects vulnerabilities. You can find out if there are any security issues using the Malware report in Google Search Console.

    4. Site Migration or Deletion

If you have recently migrated your website or changed web hosts, it may take some time for Google to update its records. If you deleted your site, it will no longer appear in search results.

    5. Possible Google Penalties

Lastly, consider whether your site may have been penalized by Google for any reason. This could be due to various factors, including violations of Google’s guidelines.

If you need more detailed assistance or a comprehensive review of your settings, we recommend our professional setup service, which ensures that your plugin setup is fully correct and adheres to the latest SEO standards. Hello,

Thank you for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.

We have checked your website, and it’s already indexed and cached by Google and I can also see that the sitemap is generated accordingly.
    indexed

Please note that it is completely upto Google if they want to index or not index your website. So, if you haven’t willingly or accidentally made your posts noindex and Google still isn’t indexing your page – it means that either Google doesn’t want to index or hasn’t crawled your page yet because it hasn’t allocated that much crawl budget to your website.

Please check this website for more details.

I also checked your sitemap, seodoctor.ng/sitemap_index.xml and returns while blank screen. This sitemap error indicates that there must be some white space before the XML Sitemap’s source code. You can also look at the source code of Sitemap and see if there is any extra line or space before the XML. This is caused by a blank line or space in your wp-config.php or functions.php file.

If you’re not able to find any white space then you can try to follow this guideline to fix the issue: https://wejn.org/stuff/wejnswpwhitespacefix.php.html

Once done, please try to clear the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast and see if that works for you: https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

However, if you are unable to do this or if the fix does not work, please include your FTP details in the sensitive data section so we can fix this for you.

Also, I went ahead and check all the variations of your sitemap using https://httpstatus.io/ and we saw two Status codes. Please refer to my screenshot here:

    sitemap variation

Only one of the 4 variations should show a 200 status code. Three (3) of the sitemaps should only show 301.

Please follow the steps in this link:
https://rankmath.com/kb/couldnt-fetch-error-google-search-console/#5-check-for-the-correct-version-of-the-sitemap and redirect to the correct version.

Then, please ensure that your sitemap is not heavily cached as well. Please follow the steps below to address it:

    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

Once done, resubmit the sitemap_index.xml in the Search Console and wait for Google to recrawl the sitemap.

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello,

Since we did not hear back from you for 15 days, we are assuming that you found the solution. We are closing this support ticket.

If you still need assistance or any other help, please feel free to open a new support ticket, and we will be more than happy to assist.

    Thank you.
