Yes, WordPress creates a media attachment page for the files uploaded from the Media Library.
You can redirect those orphan attachments to any URL as per your wish. By default, if you have enabled the “Redirect Attachments” option in Rank Math, then the Orphan Attachments are redirected to the home page of your site.

If I click on “View Attachment Page” of one of those unattached files i land on a blank screen – is that a normal behaviour?
By default, the media attachment pages take the default style of the theme. However, there is a chance that your WordPress theme might be changing the behavior of the media attachment pages which is why you might be seeing a blank screen.
