You can set up Rank Math even your site is still unpublished or not yet live. Your configurations/settings will be applied as well when you push your site to a live URL. Although, you would need to update some options like redirects.
Are you using a staging site to build your site or you just have a maintenance mode for your domain? However, if you encounter any issues upon pushing your site live, please don’t hesitate to contact us anytime to assist you with anything else.

Thank you, The website is installed in a child public folder. Once completed, will be moved to the root folder and replace the actual one.
So I can start setting Rankmath even on this version, correct? Hope not to have to reset everything once published.
I assume that the site map generated on this temporaryu copy of the site is not very useful, right?

Yes, you can configure Rank Math in the current state of your website. As my colleague mentioned in his reply, there are some options like Redirections that you will need to update when you move your site to the root directory.
But other than that, you can start optimizing your website since when you will launch the website, you will have less work to do 🙂
Sitemaps contain Absolute URLs so when you will change the location of the website, all the URLs will get modified.
