    Hi!

i am trying to import plugin settings on a development site. I exported the settings following the tutorial on your site, a .txt file is created when I try to import it on the development site, this error message appears after a few seconds “Settings could not be imported: This type of file is not allowed for reasons safety.”

In your tutorials I have seen that you refer in the images to the creation of a .csv file and not a .txt but I cannot understand where to set the file type.

    Thanks

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and we regret the inconvenience caused.

It seems like your website is not allowing the txt file type to be uploaded.

You can try to set the following constant on your wp-config.php file temporarily to allow unrestricted file upload and then remove it after the import is done:

    define('ALLOW_UNFILTERED_UPLOADS', true);

You can also follow this guide:
    https://kinsta.com/knowledgebase/sorry-this-file-type-is-not-permitted-for-security-reasons/#how

Please let us know how that goes.

    Thank you.

    Hello Prabhat Rai

I followed your suggestion now the .txt file is imported regularly even if my problem is only partially solved.

I believed that by importing the plugin settings, the snippets and keywords of the pages and articles were also imported, but this is not the case.

To import the pages and posts from the production site I used the Elementor Pro tool and I don’t know if this is the problem, pages and posts have been imported regularly but snippets and keywords no, has something like this already happened to you?

    Hello,

The settings txt file only contains the plugin settings and not the optimizations data of the website. We offer that option in the PRO version of Rank Math where users can easily import/export data with a CSV file. Here’s a guide regarding that: https://rankmath.com/kb/export-keywords/

However, you can try using WordPress’s built in import/export tool to export the data from the required website and then import it in the production website: https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-export-a-wordpress-site/#export-tool

You need to export/import the entire post types whose data is to be imported. Currently, as you mentioned that the posts/pages are already imported, you should consider deleting them and importing them again with all the data (which should include Rank Math’s data as well).

With that being said, I highly suggest that you test this on a testing website first and then check all the data. If you’re satisfied, only then proceed with the production website.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you.

    Hi!

Thank for the suppot i imported pages and posts on a developmet site, so it is not important to have the optimization on this, but I will consider using the WordPress tool if I have to go the other way.

    Thanks again
