  • Hello, we’re sorry to hear that you’re facing this issue with your site name not displaying correctly in the SERPs. Google may display your domain name instead of your site name for several reasons. Here are some steps you can take to ensure that your site name is recognized by Google:

    1. Ensure Site Name is Set in Multiple Locations

Google checks several locations for your site name:

    • Homepage Title Tag: Make sure your site name is included in the title tag of your homepage. You can set this in WordPress Dashboard β†’ Settings β†’ General.
Enter a site name in Site Title field

    • Homepage H1 Header Tag: If you are using a static page for your homepage, ensure that the page title includes your site name. You can edit this in WordPress Dashboard β†’ Pages.

    • Open Graph Metadata: Rank Math automatically adds Open Graph metadata to your homepage, which helps social media and search engines understand your content better.

    2. Add Site Name to Structured Data

Make sure you have the Schema module enabled in Rank Math:

    • Navigate to WordPress Dashboard β†’ Rank Math SEO and enable the Schema module.
      Enable Schema in Rank Math

Then, fill in the required fields under Rank Math SEO β†’ Titles & Meta β†’ Local SEO:

    • Website Name: Enter your site name here.
    • Logo: Upload your site logo.

    3. Request Google to Reindex Your Homepage

After making these changes, it may take some time for Google to reflect them. You can speed up the process by requesting Google to reindex your homepage through the Google Search Console.

    • Enter your homepage URL and click REQUEST INDEXING.
      Click Request Indexing

    4. Monitor Changes

It may take a few weeks for Google to notice the updates you made. Keep an eye on the SERPs to see if your site name appears correctly.

If you continue to experience issues after following these steps, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that this issue might have caused.

We understand that you are facing an issue where Google Search Results display your domain as the site name instead of the actual site name.

There are various sources that Google uses to define your site name on SERPs:

    1 . og:site_name
2 . WebSite structured data (Schema)
3 . Content in title elements
    4 . Heading elements (H1, H2, etc)

Rank Math automatically incorporates the og:site_name meta tag and the WebSite Schema on your page.

This aids Google in understanding and displaying your desired site name.

To address this and encourage Google to display the sitename instead of domain please follow these steps:
1 . Ensure that your website’s <title> tag on the homepage reflects sitename accurately.

2 . Update the og:site_name meta tag to add sitename within Rank Math settings.

3 . Double-check that your logo alt text and other significant areas on your site mention the sitename.

4 . Make sure internal links within your site use sitename rather than the domain.

5 . After making these adjustments, utilize the URL Inspection Tool in Google Search Console to request indexing for your homepage.

6 . Ensure sitename is consistently represented across all online profiles, directories, and other platforms.

7 . If you’ve rebranded or changed the name in the past, verify there’s no legacy content , old sitemaps, or outdated pages sending conflicting signals to Google.

8 . Remember, you’ll need patience as Google re-crawls and re-indexes your site. It might take some time before these updates reflect in the SERPs.

It’s important to note that while these steps can guide Google, the final site name display in SERPs is determined by Google’s algorithm, based on what it deems relevant and user-friendly.

You can further understand this by reviewing Google’s documentation on site-name: Google Site Names Documentation.

We hope that helps, and please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.

I made sure 1-3 were done and then re-indexed the homepage. It’s been more than 2 weeks, and I’m still not seeing my Site name in the SERPs. As far as #4 is concerned, all the internal links have anchor text defined. We cannot have Site name for every internal link. If you meant something else, then please elaborate.

    Please advise.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

Please note that Google uses a machine learning algorithm to generate the Sitename for your pages based on other information it has collected about your website and your industry.

Also, it is completely up to Google, and even if your site has followed all the guidelines, they can still decide to show a different or no site name. You should keep working on improving your site’s content quality and authority to increase the chances of your site name appearing in the SERPs.

Moreover, we would suggest to keep on mentioning the desired title on both the title of the page and the schema structure (which our plugin automatically adds after configuring the Local SEO settings in Rank Math > Titles & Meta).

    Looking forward to helping you.
