Seo title does not update (gets overridden by default variables)

I have this problem. I can not edit the seo title within the page settings. The description is fine, but title always goes back to default one (variables set in the settings -> content types). I tried deleting all the variables – it doesn’t help.

I did everything I could by now. All the plugins and themes work well together.

    Please help.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

I have logged in to your site and it looks like everything is working smoothly. I have entered a custom title on your page and it saved successfully as shown below:

Please let me know if you are using some different steps to reproduce the problem.

Hmm, i found what the problem is in my case. I was trying to enter the title, which contained emoji. (I need this truck emoji 🚚). Title without emoji works fine.

But.. interesting enough, I have another website with phone emoji in the title (☎️). And this emoji works well! I tried a bunch of other emojis.. none of them get accepted apart from phone one =(

    Any ideas why?

I guess it only accepts the “old” emoji, like this phone..

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

The saving of emojis works as expected on my end. It is likely this issue has to do with the character encoding of your database.
Could you please test this out on vanilla local install and check if the issue can still be reproduced?

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

I am sorry, I don’t know what do you mean by vanilla local install?

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

I am sorry if I was not clear, I meant that you can test this on a new WordPress install perhaps on your localhost or a different server using a new database.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.
