seo reports

I have a quick question regarding SEO reports.

I had an email yesterday with my SEO report from WordPress however, when I clicked through the full report quite a lot of the figures were different.

I know that there is a few days of difference between the email report and the live reporting on the website so there will obviously be some disparity but the figures for the positions Top 3, 4-10 & 11-50 as far as whether they were going up or down seem quite different. (I presume that’s what the little red triangle and the number beside it means?).

Just wondering what would cause this disparity if I am reading this correctly?

I have only just started to get into SEO having had my blog for 5 years and I was going back through and changing the SEO Keywords on some of my best features to keywords that might actually rank rather than the more generic ones I used to use when I didn’t really know what I was doing. I’m just wondering if this is a worthwhile use of my time but it’s a little confusing from the figures in the two reports.

    Here are the two reports

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math for help with your email and WordPress dashboard SEO reports.

The two reports are different from each other.
    Email vs website
    Search Impressions: 28.5K Vs 27.58K
Search impressions down by: 3K Vs 3.79K
    Total Keywords: 488 Vs 488
Keywords down by: 6 Vs 96
    Total clicks: 117 Vs 116
Clicks down by: 50 Vs 42

The above report shows fairly comparable values on both email and website reports. The rest of the values shown in your screenshots do not have comparable equivalents on each alternative report.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have questions.

Hi Nigel, thanks for the reply, I haven’t been posting as much the last couple of weeks due to being on holiday so it makes sense that things are down slightly.

What I was trying to work out was whether the success of the keywords was getting better or not (I.e are there more 1-3’s and 4-10’s?), the two reports were a little bit contradictory.

I take it the smaller red figures with an arrow up or down beside the keyword positions shows whether they are growing or not?

I am only getting into SEO and before I left for holiday I went back to some of my best articles from the past and changed the keywords for ones that might have a better chance of ranking rather than the generic ones that I used to put in when I didn’t really know what I was doing.

To be honest my question really is whether it’s a good idea to go back to older articles I have written and change the key words for more sensible ones or if that is a waste of time.

It’s not that obvious from the reports whether changing the ones I did has been successful.

    Best,
    John
