SEO plugin not recognising external links or image alt text

    Hi there,

I’m struggling to work out why the Rank Math plugin doesn’t always recognise elements of my website – for example, external links or image alt text.

On this page: https://engage.dhsc.gov.uk/ournhs/hillingdon-hospital/ – we have a couple of outbound links, and the main header image has alt text with our Focus Keyword (“Hillingdon Hospital”), but these both appear as errors under the ‘Additional’ section of Rank Math for that page (screenshot included in Sensitive Data box below).

    Hoping you can help?

    Thanks,
    David

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

From your screenshot, it seems that you’re checking Divi’s backend editor. Rank Math’s content analysis is already compatible with the Divi front-end editor.

Here’s a link for more information:
    https://rankmath.com/blog/divi-seo/#content-analysis

Could you please check if those tests are still showing as failed on Divi’s front-end editor?

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hi,

Looks like the same issue is appearing in the front-end editor? (Have reposted screenshot).

    Thanks,
    David

    Hello,

In this case, we might need to take a closer look at your website to investigate.

Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Hi there,

Thanks for getting back to me on this. Is it possible to set up a video call and for me to share my screen with you, rather than granting you access to the backend of the website?

Let me know if this is a potential option and how we might go about arranging it.

    Thanks

    Hello,

Sorry to disappoint you but as we have a globally distributed team, calls/video calls are beyond the scope of our support.

If you’re not comfortable in sharing access to your live website, then you can also create a staging website and replicate the issue there and share its logins so that we can perform the troubleshooting there.

You may follow this article to create the staging website: https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-create-staging-environment-for-a-wordpress-site/

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I’ve checked the demo site, and it seems that the Rank Math plugins and the Divi Builder are not showing in the plugin section since you’re using multisite.

Could you please update the user as a super admin to check the plugins as well?

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Hi there,

Our dev team has converted the account to a Super Admin account. Hopefully you’re now able to check the plugins?

    Thanks

    Hello,

Thank you for providing the access.

I checked the affected page and it seems you have added the external link incorrectly. In order to make the anchor tag work on DIVI builder, you would need to insert the protocol in the URL so Rank Math can detect it. Please refer to the video screencast in the sensitive data section.

As for the image alt tag, I was able to replicate this from our end. Allow me to check this one with our dev team. We should get back to you shortly.

Looking forward to helping you with this one.

    Hi there,

Just following up on this one – thanks for clarifying the issue with the external links. I see what I was doing wrong here.

Did you have any success with working out the issue I’m seeing with the Alt Text?

    Thanks!

    Hello,

The issue with the image ALT tag is that you are using a single quote that is not escaped in the HTML code.

Since the ALT tag can’t be escaped prior to being inserted you need to use character encoding instead of the special characters directly typed from your keyboard.

For the single quote the encoding is the following: '

Hope this helps clarify your doubts.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

    Hello,

Since we did not hear back from you for 15 days, we are assuming that you found the solution. We are closing this support ticket.

If you still need assistance or any other help, please feel free to open a new support ticket, and we will be more than happy to assist.

    Thank you.
