Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention.
Could you please share the translation plugin you’re using?
Meanwhile, translation plugins already optimize the translated version of your focus keywords. Here are a couple of articles to help you with the multilingual SEO:
https://rankmath.com/kb/multilingual-seo-wpml/
https://rankmath.com/kb/multiple-languages-seo-rankmath-translatepress/
These articles have a step-by-step guide to help you get your site ranked for multiple languages in the search results.
I hope that helps.
Thank you.
Hi Reinelle,
thank you for your reply!
I am using Translatepress as a plugin. I was reading in the article you sent me, that to use SEO in multiple languages, I have to buy the Translatepress SEO addon pack. Are there any other ways to do this without having to buy it?
Hello,
Sorry to disappoint you but because of the way the TranslatePress plugin translates pages, there’s no possibility to add the focus keyword for the translated pages as the translation occurs on the frontend.
However, please note that the focus keyword is only used for the content analysis to show you how good your content is according to the keyphrase you want to target. It doesn’t have any direct effect on your site’s SEO performance, so nothing to worry about the SEO performance of your translated pages.
Hope this helps.
Thank you.
Hi Prabhat,
so I can only insert a focus keyword in italian but there is no way to add one in english too?
Hello,
Thank you for your patience.
Yes, the focus keywords in Rank Math post analysis are mostly used for optimizing the post content. Since TranslatePress mostly translates content in the front end instead of within the editor, this option may not be necessary.
I hope that helps.
Thank you.
Hi Reinelle,
forgive me, but from what I’ve read on the web, the focus keyword is indispensable for being ‘found’ on Google. So if I don’t translate it correctly into English (my site is in Italian-English), it will be difficult to appear in the searches of foreign users who speak English, right?
If what I say is correct, can you recommend me a translation plugin that allows to translate also focus keywords and that is compatible with rank math? I know that yoast seo and wpml together allow to translate focus keywords but I’m very comfortable with your rank math plugin and I would prefer not to change.
Can you help me?

The focus keyword is a keyword that you want to rank for in the SERPs. It should be translated properly but not in the focus keyword field. It should be translated within your content. The keyword you enter in the field only helps our content analysis analyze your content. It has no effect on the SEO performance and is only for your reference.
However, if you want then you can switch to WPML as it allows you to create a separate page/post for the translated version and you can add the translated keyword as the focus keyword: https://rankmath.com/kb/multilingual-seo-wpml/
Hope this clarifies your doubts. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch in case you need any other assistance.
Thanks.
Hi Jaideep,
