SEO Meta Box

The fields under the SEO Meta Box for Posts and Pages do not display at all even though the option has been enabled. It was working until today, even after updating to WordPress 5.5 last week. No major update (e.g. theme update) was done recently so I couldn’t figure out what is the issue.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

We might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

    Thanks for your reply!

Just a few more details on the situation. I thought the issue might be due to a conflict with another plugin, but there were several other peculiarities that gave me pause. Firstly, the expander arrow doesn’t work for other screen options in the editing view – e.g. clicking on the arrow doesn’t expand the box for Analytify and other plugins. Secondly, the radio button under Categories disappeared, so I can select multiple categories, but cannot choose a primary category.

That led me to think that there might be something with the WP core files. I tried using the Enable jQuery Migrate Helper plugin but it didn’t resolve the issue.

So I tried a workaround by downgrading WordPress to 5.5 (didn’t work – the meta box still doesn’t load) and then 5.4.2 (everything went back to normal). I’m actually quite comfortable with this temporary fix, but if you wish to investigate, let me know and I’ll create a temporary login.

    Thanks!

    Hello,

If it works with previous versions of WordPress then it is likely because of WordPress 5.5 which is right now breaking websites right, left and center:
    https://www.searchenginejournal.com/wordpress-5-5-issues/377851/

Assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins, themes and WordPress (please update if not yet), it would seem like a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using.

To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

WP 5.5 brought a new error (not actually an error) that is not covered much and is related to the new jQuery version in the core. That is breaking many old themes and plugins. You have to stick with the developer that updates their products regularly or check with them and ensure they are compatible with WP 5.5

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
