SEO description show in pages / posts dashboard instead of %excerpt%

    Hello,

I really like RankMath. I would like to keep the SEO description set to excerpt. But ideally I’d like to be able to look at the dashboard and for posts and pages and see what the actual content is versus seeing just %excerpt%. Is there a setting for this or a filter function that would make this work.

    Thank you.

  • Hello,

Thank you for getting in touch with us.

If you have not added any meta description, Rank math automatically generates an excerpt of your page/post as the met description. The specific excerpt is shown for each post in the content editor under Rank math meta box >>General Settings.

If this is not the case in your end, please share some screenshots via https://imgbb.com so we can assist you further.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

Sorry, for the delay. In the screencast link below you can better see my question. I was wondering if there is a filter or snippet that could turn the search variables that you see for one page in the WP pages admin (example #1) so that they would appear as the actual text (example #2) generated from the variable so could you could really see and manage SEO meta globally in the Pages view.

in (example #2) we’ve had to physically edit the meta-description and the meta-title to have it show up but that defeats the purpose of a variable as in once we make an edit it is static and not the variable.

Another way to solve this is to have the Excerpt show up in the Pages admin but that would not be editable globally like the SEO fields that Rank Math adds here.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Thank you for the follow up.

The %excerpt% variable is a dynamic variable determined by the content added to your page. There is currently no certain way of picking your page content and making it editable in the pages/post dashboard. I’ll however consult with the dev team and see if they can come up with something.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.
