“SEO Desc” wrong in dashboard, but correct in SERP and source code

In my WP dashboard, like 98% of the descriptions in the “SEO Desc” column list the generic/default Homepage Meta Description / Single Post Description text (i.e. “Our great site is blahblahblah”). But when I edit a post, I see that it has the correct meta-description, and the page’s source-code also shows the correct description, and the real-world SERP results also show the correct description. But the dashboard results are consistently wrong, which is confusing and a bit disruptive. How can I fix that?

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and we regret the inconvenience caused.

In the post/page/CPT list, the SEO title/description columns show exactly what you’ve used in those fields.

Let’s say you’ve set the SEO Description as the excerpt, then in the SEO Desc column, %excerpt% would be shown.

Since on the list pages, the columns are quite packed together, we follow this approach.

However, if you’re getting something entirely different, then could you please share a screenshot using a tool like imgur.com so that we can understand the insights of the issue?

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

    Thank you.

Hi there, I just added %excerpt% to the posts that were displaying incorrectly, and that seems to work. I still don’t know why they were taking the generic snippet from the Homepage Meta Description / Single Post Description, and perhaps I’ll never know, but as long as it’s working now then it’s all good. – Thx
