    Rank Math free

Hi – My changes to SEO content aren’t being saved. The home page’s snippet keeps reverting back to old content. There is no “Save” button on my Rank Math plugin, and my site + PHP are up to date (I’m using WordPress). Help please.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

The changes you made in the Rank Math meta box/settings will be automatically saved upon closing/clicking the x button.

If the changes are not saving upon saving/publishing the page, please check if you have any firewall as there are chances that it will prevent saving the data.

Here’s a link for more information and troubleshooting steps:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/meta-data-not-saving/

    I hope that helps.

    Thank you.

    Hi Reinelle –

Thanks for the info. I’ll be in the office Thursday to check on the firewall.

In the meantime I went into Troubleshooting mode and found the following critical errors:
-The REST AI encountered an error.
-Your site could not complete a loopback request.

Would either of these 2 items affect the saving? (If not I’ll tackle them under a separate ticket.)

    I appreciate your help,
    Elena

    Hello,

Usually, when it comes to issues with SEO not saving the changes you made, the API request from our plugin is being blocked by your server. You can check the guide my colleague provided for the solution.

For us to further know what’s causing the issue, you may provide your admin’s login info. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress login in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested and emailed you a link to log in. Can you please check further?

I learned the site doesn’t have a firewall, and I don’t know how to update this: “replacing the rules in the htaccess file with the default WordPress htaccess rules” if it’s indeed the issue.

These are the errors in Site Health:

The REST API request failed due to an error.
Error: [] cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10000 milliseconds with 0 bytes received

    &

The loopback request to your site failed, this means features relying on them are not currently working as expected.
Error encountered: (0) cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10001 milliseconds with 0 bytes received

    Thank you so much!
    -Elena

    Hello,

I wasn’t able to see any critical issues regarding REST API in the site health section of your site. However, our updateMeta route is getting blocked even when only Rank Math and a default theme are active.

Please get in touch with your host and ask them to check if there is a server-side firewall that is blocking the route and whitelist it to fix the issue: https://rankmath.com/kb/meta-data-not-saving/#firewall

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to your update.

I’m on with My hosting company GoDaddy and they are asking for the IP address to be whitelisted within. the firewall. Please let me known ASAP!

    Hello,

The route should be unblocked for any IP address and range that has access to the admin area of your website, for example, your IP address needs to be able to access that route to save the data.

Ideally, the route should be whitelisted completely on your website to prevent any issues.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.
