Search Query Variable

    Hi,

I am trying to get an understanding of these two image alt tags parameters.
    1. Search Query
    2. Counter

I checked the image SEO article as well. The given explation is not helping me understand the use-case of this.

Does the search query append the alt tags that are present in the user’s google search? How does it choose which image to show for which query?

How to use the counter tag? If there is a number in the image alt tag, say, 50. Will it increase with every visit?

As I said, to me it is unclear the use-case of these two variables.

Please share an explanation about this.

Also, where do I see the replies to this thread? I couldn’t locate a thread I am creating. There is no notification and it does not show up in the “my tickets” section on the RankMath dashboard. So I don’t have any way to read the replies anybody is sharing.

My Email ID is d*******************@g********. Please somebody revert back on this.

    Thanks and Regards,
    Kaivalya

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting the support.

We came to know that you’ve asked the same query to Bhanu as well, so we’ll be sharing the same reply as the reply he has sent provides the correct explanation.

    1. The Search Query variable is to be used only on the Search Pages of the website and not on regular pages. This variable holds the keywords searched by the user on your website’s search page.

For example, if a user used the search field on a website to search for “best laptops 2022”, then the %search_query% variable will have the value of “best laptops 2022”.

    2. The Counter variable returns a number based on the usage of the passed argument/variable on the page. Here’s a guide with more details: https://rankmath.com/kb/variables-in-seo-title-description/#num-3-counter

Please have a look at this screencast for a quick reference: https://i.rankmath.com/Csz2E7

You can pass any variable in the Counter variable, provided you’ve used that variable in the same field.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you.

Got it. Thank you so much for a quick and helpful response.
