Robots txt problem

#558547
  • Hello,

In all my sites I use Rank Math. In two sites, robots.txt is not performing as it should.
In the first site Rank Math is not properly updating the robots.txt file.
    In the sensitive data section.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting the support and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Would you please confirm are you using Rank Math inbuilt robots.txt editor or you have a physical file in root folder?

    Looking forward to helping you.

I am using RM in built. There is one robots.txt file inside the public_html however that apparently can’t get overwritten by rm

In other words, a robots.txt file exists in the public_html folder. Should i delete this one?

    Hello,

Yes, you’re correct. Rank Math’s unable to rewrite your robots.txt if there’s an existing file in your website’s directory:

This depends on which method you prefer. If you wanted to edit your robots.txt using Rank Math, then you may need to delete or at least rename that file in your directory. Else, you can keep the robots.txt file and edit it using file manager or cPanel directly.

Both methods are fine as long as the rules in the robots.txt are correctly applied.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.
