    Dear Rank Math Support,

    I am currently facing an issue with the Rank Math SEO plugin on my WordPress site. The plugin is showing the following error:

    “robots.txt file is not writable.”

    Because of this, I am unable to edit or update the robots.txt file directly through the Rank Math interface.

    I have already checked the following:

    The file permissions of robots.txt are currently set to [please specify – e.g., 644 or 444].

    The file exists at the root directory of my WordPress installation.

    My hosting environment allows file edits via the WordPress dashboard.

    Could you please assist in identifying the cause and provide guidance on how to resolve this issue? If needed, I can also provide temporary access credentials or logs to help troubleshoot the problem further.

    Hello,

    Thank you for contacting us. We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused.

    It appears there is a physical robots.txt file in your website’s root folder. Rank Math generates a dynamic robots.txt for your site only if there is no static robots.txt in the root folder.

    You can remove this file via FTP or cPanel File Manager and then try to edit the robots.txt file through Rank Math.
