Not sure why your robots.txt file is redirecting to your homepage but it is normal for you not to see any actual robots.txt file on your site’s root. This is because Rank Math does not create an actual robots.txt file in your site’s root – instead, it uses a virtual robots.txt file – which is better and is used by other major SEO plugins.
Regarding the redirection, please share access to your website so we can help investigate this issue properly. Please follow these steps:
- Edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress logins in the Sensitive Data section. This is a secure section that only our support staff can access.
- Make sure you take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
- If you prefer, you can use this plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead: https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

Since you’re using the Nginx server, please get in touch with your hosting provider and ask them to add the following rule to the server:
# START Nginx Rewrites for Rank Math Robots.txt File
rewrite ^/robots.txt$ /?robots=1 last;
rewrite ^/([^/]+?)-robots([0-9]+)?.txt$ /?robots=$1&robots_n=$2 last;
# END Nginx Rewrites for Rank Math Robots.txt File
Once done, please clear your website cache including any server-level cache, and check again.
