Rich Snippet settings override

This may turn out to be a very stupid question, but here goes. Are we supposed to be able to write our own excerpt or anything having to do with the schema other than what Rank Math inserts automatically from the Settings? On Pages, for instance, I get a dropdown menu and I can choose and customize all sorts of things, but on Products all I get is this: https://barglobeworld.com/rank-math-2/. Could this be because I am using a single custom template for the product page in Divi?

  • Hello,

Please check the screencast I added in the Sensitive Data Section. There are 2 schema data that are added on your site’s product pages.

I made a switch from Yoast to Rank Math and was really happy before discovering that Rank Math automatically does schema markup for products, but it canโ€™t do all of it. I read an incredulous explanation on one of the posts around here, something along the lines of since things like global identifier and brand are only recommended by Google and not required, Rank Math decided not to add them as an option.

WooCommerce already provides all the options to add the fields which are required by schema. In the screencast, I tried to explain where you can add the values for the fields which are showing warnings on product pages. Please go through it and let us know if it’s still not clear. Also, please disable the other schema which is added by your theme or some other plugin.

    I hope that helps.

    Dear Pratik,

IF only someone had simply mentioned what you just showed in the screencast before, I wouldn’t have wasted 3 days. I am really sorry for losing my temper, but I was really frustrated. I thought about adding gtin as an attribute, but I figured if that were possible, it would be mentioned all over the forum. But I never came across that. Thank you!!!

As far as the two schema markups are concerned, I don’t quite know what to do about that. I started my troubleshooting by turning plugins off one by one, not by turning them on one by one. The first one I started with was Rank Math, and here is what I got when I test the structured data:
    no url found
All the other plugins are enabled, the theme is enabled, Woocommerce is enabled, and no schema.
As soon as I enable Rank Math, 2 markups appear:
    structured data test
(notice how I have no errors on the Rank Math markup now? Yay!) The second markup is a bunch of hodgepodge. The description is made up of a mixture of the meta title, short description, primary description and specs.

I suppose I will put the site on maintenance and try the opposite troubleshooting method, turning everything off and enabling them one by one. But thanks again for clearing up the missing data errors for me.

    Hi,

You are getting a 404 when you disable Rank Math because you seem to be using the strip category base option which gets disabled when you disable Rank Math and hence breaks the link in your screenshot.

About disabling plugin, please disable them all except Rank Math and switch to the 2020 theme.

Then, run the SDTT check. If the Schema is fine, then the next step is to enable all plugins one by one. Do note that you cannot use the Troubleshooting Mode since that takes effect only for the admin so the SDTT still sees the live website.

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for the explanation. I will troubleshoot at some point this weekend and let you know what I find.

I found the culprit. It’s Woocommerce Builder for Divi

It would be really difficult for us to switch to something else. This is what we used to build our product page layout, so all our products are using it. ๐Ÿ™

I received a reply from the plugin’s support:

    Hi there,

I do confirm a conflict with Rank Math. Thank you for reporting this. I’ll look into it and release a fix.

    – Keep in mind that the schema generated by my plugin is the actual schema generated by WooCommerce itself. What is happening – I guess – Rank Math does not take the custom layout situation into account and my plugin also does not take the custom schema of Rank Math into account.

    – For now, please, disable the schema of Rank Math, a screenshot is attached.

The screenshot only shows where to disable the markup in Rank Math.

I’m glad that the issue is targeted, at least, and I hope he does release a fix soon because I’m not going to turn off Rank Math’s schema. I’d rather have two markups than leave only the bad one with errors and the descriptions that don’t make any sense. But perhaps he also made a valid point about not taking product page custom layouts into account? I remember not so long ago there was no choice but to use the Woocommerce default layout, like it or not.

    Hello,
