Rich Pins aren’t working the way they should

    Hi there,

I have recently launched my website https://thefoodhog.com. I was using Yoast but switched to Rank Math. I have enabled rich pins but they are only somehow working. Here’s what I mean:

When I pin from my website, Pinterest takes my Post Title as a Meta Description (and Pinterest Description) while the field that should display the Post Title displays my website URL (www.thefoodhog.com). Here’s an example= https://www.pinterest.com/pin/702350504375628363/

Can you please tell me how do I fix this and how to make the rich pins display everything properly?

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

One of your installed plugins / theme is adding an extra set of OG tags on your pages that is responsible for this problem. This is how it looks:

Please try to isolate the plugin that is adding the tags so as to fix this.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    Hi there,

I did what you said, I disabled all plugins except for RankMath and the issue wasn’t solved. The rich pin data is somehow working as I have a couple of recipe pins that have all the data, including ingredients except for the Title (exampe: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/702350504375478829/).

The theme can’t be a problem because it’s GeneratePress, it’s a very common theme and it runs with RankMath successfully on my other site.

Additionally, I heard back from Heateor (the social sharing plugin that was mentioned in the code) and they said “Sorry to say but you have been misinformed. Sassy plugin doesn’t insert any Open Graph Meta Tags in the HTML source of your website. You can try deactivating the Sassy plugin just to confirm the same.
” (which I later did and nothing changed).

Can you please take another look?

    Hi Daniel,

I found this hard-coded into your theme:

You will need to remove that code because that is the reason for the incorrect information being pulled.

It is added in your generatepress theme in the header.php file.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

Thank you for your response, Todd.

I see you have already removed this code but I’m afraid that not only did this not solve the issue (The pin are still displaying the same way and the rich pin validator confirms this) but it also completely crashed my website. Please take a look at my page, all stylings are gone for some reason. Can you please take a look as soon as possible?

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today & sorry for the inconvenience.

I have been locked out of your site for an incorrect username, it looks like I can only login after 9 hours. Could you please disable this security feature so that we can check this further?

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.
