  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the 404 error on your indexed page. Thank you for providing the details regarding the error message and the URL.

A 404 error typically occurs when a user or Googlebot tries to access a URL that does not exist. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue:

    1. Check if the Page Exists: Ensure that the page at the URL `https://rankmath.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Soft-404-error.jpg is still available. If it has been deleted or moved, you may need to create a new page or restore the old one.

    2. Redirect Removed Pages: If the page has moved, consider setting up a 301 redirect from the old URL to the new one. This helps preserve any link equity from the old URL. You can refer to our guide on how to do this here.

    3. Fix Broken Links: Check for any internal or external links pointing to this missing page and update them accordingly. If possible, reach out to sites linking to your deleted pages and request an update to the correct URL.

    4. Create a Custom 404 Page: Design a user-friendly 404 page that guides visitors to helpful content on your site. Include links to popular posts or a search bar to help users find what they want.

    5. Check Your Web Server Settings: Ensure that your web server is configured correctly to return a 404 error for missing pages. If your server is not configured properly, it may be returning a 200 status code instead of a 404, which can cause indexing issues. You may need to contact your web hosting provider for assistance with this.

Once you have taken these steps, you can request Google to re-crawl your site through Google Search Console to see if the issue is resolved.

If you need further assistance, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from our support team will be happy to help you further.

Thank you for raising this concern, and we hope this helps resolve your issue!

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

The situation with the “Get status” returning a 404 error happens when the URL being tested was not previously submitted to the Indexing API.

So, you need to first submit it, and wait for Google to parse it and only then you can request the status for the URL.

Also, ensure that you have updated to the latest version of the Instant Indexing plugin (v1.1.21) where a similar issue has been fixed.

Once done, please clear your website cache and check again.

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.
