    Hi,

I’m Arjunan, and I work as a WordPress developer full-time. I’ve already turned on the Ranmath automated XML generator, but I have a question about the site map. As I maintain essential pages on my website, I request Google to crawl these pages frequently so that I can mention priority(0 to 1). However, I’m not sure how to assign each page a priority.

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing regarding the sitemap and assigning priorities to your pages.

In Rank Math, you can set the priority for each page directly within the page editor. Here’s how you can do it:

    1. Edit the Page/Post: Go to the page or post you want to set the priority for and click on Edit.
    2. Rank Math Meta Box: Scroll down to the Rank Math meta box (usually located below the content editor).
    3. Advanced Tab: Click on the Advanced tab within the Rank Math meta box.
    4. Set Priority: You will find an option to set the Priority for that specific page. You can assign a value between 0 and 1, where 1 is the highest priority.
    5. Update: Don’t forget to click on Update to save your changes.

This way, you can control how important each page is in terms of crawling and indexing by Google.

If you need further assistance or have more questions, feel free to reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you further.

Thank you for raising your concern!

In the Rankmath advance tab I’m not seeing any option for add priority. Can you guide me elaboratively?

    Hello,

Please ignore the reply from the RankBot. We don’t have any option to set priorities on the sitemap as Google doesn’t count this.

For more details on Google guidelines, you can check this URL: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/crawling-indexing/sitemaps/build-sitemap#additional-notes-about-xml-sitemaps

With that said, Rank Math automatically includes all the necessary values to your sitemap so you don’t have to worry about it.

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.
