Redirects to temporary domain

I am rebuilding our website from scratch on a temporary domain that we are using as a staging site. Our website is actually live now, but we are completely changing the structure and taxonomy, so there will be LOTS of redirects.

I have imported the redirects I had already from Yoast, and there are quite a few. But I’m already confused about those. For instance, in Yoast, it is:
/checkout.html to /checkout

But after importing into the temporary staging site, the redirect says:
/checkout.html to https://domain-hg.local/checkout

And every new redirect I put in, I can’t use an internal link as the destination. I can only use an internal link as the source. For instance:
/shop to https://tempdomain.com/globes-shop
It will not let me do:
/shop to /globes-shop

Does this mean that once we launch, I will need to manually change each https://domain-hg.local and https://tempdomain.com to the real domain for the redirects to work?
