Redirects not appearing

Good morning and Happy New Year! I’ve been trying to figure out my increasing number of redirections on Google Console on my own, but I’m stuck. I have two questions related to my redirections.

    1. I have recently received a message saying “SEO Notice: you just changed the slug of a Blog and Rank Math has automatically created a redirection. You can edit the redirection by clicking here” When I used the link, or manually go to redirections there is nothing there. The last redirection I created was in November. Am I missing something?

    2. I currently have over 200 redirections that I did not set up (so shouldn’t I be getting 404 errors instead?) They redirections can be broken down into two categorys.
    a) a staging site was incorrectly setup in a /test/ directory. The directory was removed. I continue
to get /test/… redirects one example is below.
    b) I opted to strip the category base for my rankmath settings. Yet I am getting lots of redirects that seem to go from category to stripped via a redirect. Maybe I did a setting wrong?

Thanks for your help. I tried to be patient with Google but the numbers are increasing instead of decreasing.

    Kathy

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

    1. If the redirects are not showing, please navigate to WP Dashboard > Rank Math > Status & Tools > Database Tools and Recreate Missing Database Tables.

    2. If you’re constantly getting redirects from the old URLs (test or with category base), then it means that there are still visitors or crawlers using those links.

Redirections are a powerful way to improve the user experience of your visitors and maintain your link juice. In this case, you should keep the redirects enabled to ensure that those URLs don’t end up with an error 404.

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.
