  • Hello,

We apologize for the issues you are facing with your page indexing and redirects. Thank you for providing detailed information and screenshots. Let’s address your concerns one by one:

    1. Sitemap Issues: It seems like there might be a problem with how the sitemaps are configured or submitted. Make sure that you are submitting the correct XML sitemap to Google, which should be available at `https://support.rankmath.com. If you have multiple sitemaps, ensure that they are correctly linked and accessible. You can also check for any plugin conflicts that might be affecting the sitemap generation by using the Health Check plugin.

    2. Redirects Not Working: If the redirects you set up in Rank Math are not functioning as expected, please ensure that you have configured them correctly in the plugin. Additionally, if your staging domain is no longer active, it may cause issues with HTTPS settings. You might want to check your server settings to ensure that they are configured to handle HTTPS correctly. If the problem persists, please reply to this ticket with your site URL so we can assist you further.

    3. High Count of 404s: Rank Math does indeed track 404 errors, but it does not provide direct insights into their sources. However, you can use the 404 Monitor feature in Rank Math to see the URLs that are generating these errors. This can help you identify where the requests are coming from. If you need more detailed analysis, consider checking your server logs or using Google Search Console to see if there are any specific URLs causing issues.

If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to reply to this ticket, and a human agent from our support team will take over and help you out.

    Thank you for your patience!

I am wondering where links like this come from and how i could redirect them to the main page:
    https://tinywoodson.be/?s={search_term_string}
    https://tinywoodson.be/?feed=comments-rss2
    https://tinywoodson.be/?p=1
I tried to set up redirects in the plugin but it’s always ending on the 404 page instead it’s set to https://tinywoodson.be

    Hello,

    1. You should only submit your main sitemap index in your Google Search Console account. You can remove all your submitted sitemaps and resubmit your main sitemap only /sitemap_index.xml.

Also, the “Crawled – currently not indexed” status means Google has crawled your page but has not indexed it yet. Finding a certain number of URLs with this status is entirely normal because Google does not index all the URLs we submit.

This isn’t an error, but there are some reasons for excluding the pages from its index.

Here’s a link for more information:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/crawled-currently-not-indexed/

    2. It is not possible to redirect subdomains/staging using Rank Math. If you need to set a redirect for your subdomain, you should contact your web host as it needs to be done on your server.

    3. Please note that we only report 404, and we do not have information on how or why they are generated.

You can get further insight into them by enabling the advanced monitor at WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > 404 Monitor:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/monitor-404-errors/#advanced-404-monitor

That will give you more information like referrer and user-agent. You can use that information to track down the source or find out if it is just bots generating those errors.

You can also add them to the exclusion list at WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > 404 Monitor > Exclude Paths.

Lastly, the redirection for parameterized URLs (with /?) is only available with Rank Math PRO:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/setting-up-redirections/#parameterized-url

    Looking forward to helping you.

What i also see is that the sitemap causes a temporary processing error: https://imgur.com/OLoyZ2C
and that Google doesn’t find referring sitemaps https://imgur.com/2BA76o3

    Hi Reinelle,

    thank you for the support.
    1. I deleted all sitemaps and uploaded again the sitemap ending on sitemap-index.xml. What i am surprised by that Google doesn’t find pages in this one (it shows 0 found pages), it only finds 9 pages in this one: https://tinywoodson.be/page-sitemap.xml – Is that normal?
The problem is that the website only has 9 pages but only the homepage (some of them with thin content for sure, but not all) is indexed and GSC is not indexing any other page. This one for example seems to not being able to get indexed since it should have a redirect but i didn’t set one up for that page https://tinywoodson.be/functie-care
    2. so all redirects i do from the staging.tinywoodson.be to the main website are not working to do in RankMath and i should do them via 301 Redirect in the .htaccess- file or that won’t work too? I set up a webforwarding on the DNS-records for staging.tinywwoodson.be but that doesn’t affect for example all the subpages like for example staging.tinywwoodson.be/functies, does it?
    3. Is it a difference for GSC when some URL are put in as https://tinywoodson.be/functie-care/ or as https://tinywoodson.be/functie-care

    Thank you!

Hi there, i checked again after uploading the sitemap again https://tinywoodson.be/sitemap_index.xml and there are no pages to be found in that one: https://imgur.com/rv0XGhN

Furthermore failed the validation of all the active pages: https://imgur.com/jYRgoup

Is there something i can check with the RankMath settings?

    Hello,

Please note that each time Google uses a sitemap to find a URL, the number of discovered URLs increases by one.

Sitemaps are only one of the few methods Google uses to discover your URLs, so it is fine for your articles to be referred to by other URLs on your site.

Also, when the count of the Discovered URLs is zero or does not match your actual sitemap in your Google Search Console, it means Google didn’t use the sitemap to find the URLs.

Here’s a link for more information:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/zero-discovered-urls-through-sitemap/

Regarding the redirects, it should be done via regex redirection through the .htaccess for your subdomain. Your web host can set that up so the slug will also redirect to the new site.

Lastly, you should submit the final version of your site https://tinywoodson.be/functie-care/ (with a trailing slash at the end) to your Google Search Console.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hi,
unfortunately this doesn’t really help with things i can do to get the pages indexed with Google. We don’t have articles on the website so i don’t know what you mean by that. I’d appreciate some more steps or tips what i can do to get all the other pages indexed.

There’s also a page being marked as redirected wrong https://tinywoodson.be/functie-care but i didn’t set up a redirect for that. How can i tackle that?

We have now two sitemaps uploaded in the GSC. Is it recommended or does it hurt to get the pages indexed GSC?

    Hello,

We checked your page, and we can see it is getting redirected from the non-trailing slash to the trailing slash.

Please note that if the page is not causing any problems and redirects users to the correct page, then there is no need to fix it, and you can ignore the error.

For more details on this issue, you can check this URL: https://rankmath.com/kb/page-with-redirect/

Regarding the sitemap, we suggest submitting only the /sitemap_index.xml on GSC, but you can submit multiple sitemaps, and it will not cause any issues.

Hope that helps and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you.

    Hi there,
thank you for checking. Where could you see that that page without the trailing-slash got redirected to the correct site? Is that from the source-code?

The problem that all the pages don’t get indexed, still persists. Is there anything you could check or help me with because it’s so frustrating that still nothing moves forward.

    Hello,

You can simply click the link you shared, and it opens with a trailing slash. Also, you can verify it by using these tools:
    https://httpstatus.io/
    https://view.hugo-decoded.be/

Regarding your site indexing, you should check your Google Search Console > Indexing > Pages section to determine any issues reported on your URLs that may have prevented your site from being indexed:
    https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/7440203?hl=en

You can share the screenshot of the report here so we can check it as well. You can upload screenshots using this tool and add the link here.

    Looking forward to helping you.
