    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

This : / is not a valid source URL, if you added this to your site domain, it would not lead or result to any URL. Could you let us know the URL you intend to redirect, may be we can assist you better.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

So something is not clear to me. What is a valid source to redirect from the homepage?

This is taken from your redirection KB article:

    ———–
The Source URL is where you type the URL (or URLs) you want to redirect from. That means any errors causing URLs that you find in the 404 Monitor will go here.

When you write the β€œfrom” URL, you ** don’t** need to write the full URL (with the https protocol and the domain name). Just write the address from the document root (the first β€œ/” after your domain name).

For instance, instead of writing this:

    http://my-site.com/document-to-redirect
    … write this:

    document-to-redirect
    ————–

And if the field cannot be empty, what is a valid source URL to redirect from the homepage?

    Hello,

The source URLs are usually complete URLs related to your domain. For example: http://my-site.com/document-to-redirect (assuming http://my-site.com) is your domain.

you ** don’t** need to write the full URL

This means you don’t need to write the domain part of your URL http://my-site.com for the redirection to work. You can redirect this URL: http://my-site.com/document-to-redirect by just adding /document-to-redirect as the source URL.

What is a valid source to redirect from the homepage?

Do you want to redirect your homepage.? If so, this cannot be done by Rank math redirections as it is the same as redirecting your domain. You may have to use the .htaccess file to redirect this.

You can share some of the URLs you wish to redirect may be we can guide you further.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.
