Redirection problem

Hello, i experience some problems with redirections. We add redirections in the right way (i use this in other sites and never have problems), it all works perfect. But after a couple of hours/ a day, some redirections are added to the 404 monitor and have been deleted from the redirection list. Not all, just some. Is this a bug you are familiar with? Do you have any idea how we can stop this from happening?

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the redirections. It sounds frustrating to have your redirections disappear and show up in the 404 monitor instead. This can happen for a few reasons, and we recommend a few troubleshooting steps:

    1. Check for Other Redirection Plugins: Ensure that there are no other redirection plugins installed on your site that might be conflicting with Rank Math. If you find any, consider disabling or removing them.

    2. Self-Diagnosis: Go to the Redirections option inside Rank Math and review all the redirections you have created. Look for any blank redirections or those where the source and destination are the same, as these can cause issues.

    3. Update Rank Math: Make sure you are using the latest version of Rank Math, as updates often include bug fixes and improvements.

    4. Check Server Configuration: Sometimes, server settings or caching mechanisms can interfere with how redirects are handled. Ensure that your server configuration is compatible with Rank Math.

    5. Review Error Logs: Check your server error logs for any indications of issues that might be causing the redirections to fail.

If you’ve gone through these steps and the problem persists, it may be beneficial to reply to this ticket with your site URL so that a human agent from our support team can assist you further. Thank you for raising this concern, and we hope to help you resolve it soon!

    Hello,

Thank you for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.

Rank Math shouldn’t automatically delete a redirection and we haven’t faced this type of behaviour from other users.

Are you able to replicate the issue and share all the specific steps you took?

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello,

We did all the steps the automatic reaction send. And still the redirects are being send to 404 after a couple of hours. I don’t do anything special, i add the redirection in the right way. What can we do now?

    Hello,

In this case, please share the redirect you have created so we can check. You can add this in this structure:

    Source:
    Type:
    Destination:

Also, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.

    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

We have created many redirects, one of them is /lascursus-gouda, that one is now back in the 404 monitor and deleted from the redirects. This keeps happening and every day there come new 404 pages that we redirected. So it is not just 1 url.

    Hello,

We have added a test redirect on your site and will monitor the situation.

You can also let us know when the redirect is gone in the redirections page.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hello,

Since we did not hear back from you for 15 days, we are assuming that you found the solution. We are closing this support ticket.

If you still need assistance or any other help, please feel free to open a new support ticket, and we will be more than happy to assist.

    Thank you.
