When turning on automatic redirection. It should take effect right away after you change a permalink of a post.
Please clear your website cache after changing a post URL and see if the redirection is working.
If not, please click these buttons in Rank Math > Status & Tools > Database Tools:

https://rankmath.com/kb/rank-math-status-and-tools/#fix-analytics-table-collations
Then, try changing a post URL once again.
