    Hey there,

We’re using Rankmath and Permalink Manager. We’ve created some custom permalinks with Permalink Manager and now we want to test different versions of the URLs.

    I want to redirect:

    https://metrobi.com/ca/san-francisco/

    to

    https://metrobi.com/ca/san-francisco-courier-services/

But this doesnt work. It directly redirects to homepage.
I enabled the debugging but it doesnt even show it, and directly redirects to the homepage.

I created a test one “asdqwe” and it works without any issues, it also displays debugging page.

    Can you please advise?

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the redirection not working as expected. It seems that the specific URL you are trying to redirect is causing a problem, possibly due to existing rules or conflicts with the Permalink Manager.

Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

    1. Check Existing Redirects: Ensure that there are no existing redirects that might be conflicting with your new redirect. You can do this by going to Rank Math SEO → Redirections and reviewing the list of redirects.

    2. Debugging Feature: Since you mentioned that debugging is enabled but not showing for this specific URL, it might be worth checking if there are any other plugins or settings that could be interfering with Rank Math’s redirection functionality.

    3. Clear Cache: If you have any caching plugins enabled, try clearing the cache. Sometimes, cached redirects can cause unexpected behavior.

    4. Test with Default Permalinks: Temporarily switch to the default permalink structure in WordPress and test the redirect again. This can help identify if the issue is related to the custom permalinks created by the Permalink Manager.

    5. Use Regex Redirects: If the standard redirect is not working, consider using a regex redirect to handle this more flexibly. You can set up a regex rule in Rank Math to match the URL pattern you want to redirect.

If after trying these steps the issue persists, we recommend replying to your ticket so a human agent from the Rank Math Support team can assist you further. They will be able to provide more specific guidance based on your setup.

Thank you for raising this concern, and we hope to resolve it for you soon!

    Hello,

Thank you for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.

The issue here is with the destination URL redirecting to the homepage. So here’s the current sequence:

    1. https://metrobi.com/ca/san-francisco/https://metrobi.com/ca/san-francisco-courier-services/ (Redirect by Rank Math)
    2. https://metrobi.com/ca/san-francisco-courier-services/https://metrobi.com/ (Also redirected by Rank Math)

In this case, please the permalink ca/san-francisco-courier-services/ doesn’t have any redirection rule for it in our plugin.

Please also confirm if this page does exist and doesn’t return a 404 page as chances are that the fallback behavior is set to your homepage:
