    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math for help with the Google Search Console message “alternate pages with proper canonical tag”

Please follow our guide to troubleshoot and fix this issue: https://rankmath.com/kb/alternate-page-with-proper-canonical-tag/

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have questions.

The method mentioned in your troubleshoot and fix guide is only good for posts, there I can enter the destination URL in the canonical URL by going to the advanced option, but my maximum errors are not the posts but the website pages where I can’t paste destination canonical url as post. Redirection is the best method for this but I am not able to add there.

    Hello,

Rank Math does not limit the number of redirects you can make, and does allow adding custom canonicals to the ‘page’ post type in the Rank Math metabox advanced tab. If you aren’t seeing the advanced tab, then please switch to Rank Math advanced mode. We’ve an article which explains how you can switch between easy and advanced: https://rankmath.com/kb/switch-from-easy-to-advanced-mode/

Please may you also share a screenshot of the Google Search Console report that shows some of the affected URLs so we can advise on the best action to take.

To troubleshoot why redirections have stopped adding, please may you share a screencast of what happens when you try to add a new redirect. You can use a tool like imgbb.com for screenshots or a tool like loom.com for screencasts and share the generated links here.

    Looking forward to helping you.

The issue is solved, Thank You for the help but I am facing another issue.

My sitemap has not benn updating in search console for last two months. Because of this I am facing issues in indexing.

I generated a manual sitemap which as soon as I submitted it in search console it started showing all my urls but rankmath sitemap is not updating the sitemap urls.

    Hello,

Can you please follow these steps?
    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp
    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

If the above does not work, please share your website URL so we can check your sitemaps to better understand the issue.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have questions.

First method is not working and there is no use of second method because i don’t use any caching plugin as my site is new.

    Hello,

As the above steps doesn’t seem to work, kindly apply the following filter code to your site.

    add_filter( 'rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching', '__return_false');

Here’s how you can add filter/hook to your WordPress site:

Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

I tried this method but it’s also not working

    Hello,

Could you please share the affected sitemap URL so we can check? You can add it to the sensitive data section

    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure, and only our support staff has access to that section.

Also, you can check our guide here for the common reasons why a URL is not getting included:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/url-not-in-sitemap/

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

The access to that sitemap URL is blocked to Googlebot, which could explain why it’s not getting parsed on Google Search Console:
    Googlebot

We recommend checking with your hosting provider and making sure that the firewall is not blocking the bots from accessing the sitemap.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

Can you provide me the url of this error page, I will provide this url to the web host.

    Hello,

Here’s the tool we used: https://view.hugo-decoded.be/

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.

I am getting confused, I checked my two sites on this url and both the sites are showing HTTP/2 403 but I have no issue with sitemap.

When I checked my site in which I am facing sitemap issue, now it is showing HTTP/2 200 instead of HTTP/2 403. Can you tell what is this change?

    Hello,

    Thank you for your patience.

I’ve checked your sitemap again, but it’s showing a white page error.

The tool is not seeing the sitemap, that’s why it shows HTTP 200 for an empty page.

For troubleshooting the issue, assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins and the themes (please update if not yet), it would seem like a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using.

To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

Here is a video you can follow as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcIWRhcUP2c

Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

Let us know how this goes.

    Thank you.
