redirecting a category

I hope you are well! I just had a quick question regarding categories and pages for seo purposes with rank math.

I have a page on my website here: https://puertoescondidoguide.com/hotels/

This page displays all the posts under the category of hotels but you’ll note I also have the page: https://puertoescondidoguide.com/category/accommodation/hotels/

I noticed the advanced setting here and my question is would I be best just to redirect https://puertoescondidoguide.com/category/accommodation/hotels/ to https://puertoescondidoguide.com/hotels/ and just do the seo meta description for the one? Rather than doing the exact same description for both?

Should I redirect or do canonical url.. does my question make sense? I hope so

Hello,

Thanks for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

You can redirect your category pages to the page that you have created for the Hotel posts. You don’t have to change the canonical of the category page or set a meta title or description for them.

i have nothing there should I just unindex it?

Hello,

If that category is empty (not linked to any posts), you can set it to noindex or simply enable the Noindex Empty Category and Tag Archives option under Rank Math > Titles & Meta > Glocal Meta.

This will noindex all empty category and tag archives.
