I have a website where I’m not using a blog.
Rank Math redirection is set to “redirect to home” for fallback behavior.
Why is the website.com/blog/ page not being redirected?
    Thank you

  • Hello,

Thank you for reaching out with your concern about the redirection of the default blog page on your website. If you have set Rank Math’s redirection to “redirect to home” for fallback behavior and the website.com/blog/ page is not being redirected as expected, there might be a specific configuration needed to ensure the redirection works correctly.

To redirect the default blog page to the homepage using Rank Math, you can follow these steps:

    1. Navigate to WordPress DashboardRank Math SEORedirections.
    2. Click on the Add New Redirection button.
    3. In the Source URL field, enter /blog/.
    4. In the Destination URL field, enter / or your homepage URL.
    5. Save the redirection.

By setting up this redirection in Rank Math, any requests to website.com/blog/ should now be automatically redirected to your homepage.

If you encounter any issues or need further assistance with this setup, please feel free to reach out to the Rank Math support team through their support page: Rank Math Support.

Thank you for your understanding, and I hope this helps resolve the redirection issue you are facing.

should it not redirect to the home without me having to input it manually?

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

The Rank Math redirection fallback behaviour will redirect any 404 error page to the homepage.

Please note that the WordPress homepage default setting will show all your blog posts automatically without you needing to create a separate page for your homepage.

The page website.com/blog/ will not be redirected to website.com/ unless you create the redirection as suggested earlier.

However, if you want to set website.com/blog/ as your home page at example.com. You don’t need a redirect for this.

Simply head to WordPress > Settings > Readings and change your homepage settings as shown in the image below

    1) Select your ‘Blog page’ as the homepage if you have set up a page to display your blog posts.
    OR
    2) Choose the ‘Your Latest Posts’ option to display all your blog posts.

Following these would set your blog page as the homepage. Then when you are done, you can change the setting back.

Hope that helps, and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Thank you.
