    Is it possible to have only ratings and no reviews?

    I have 6000+ products on my site which are updated via a sync with open source data from another website. The open source data includes: “rating”: {“count”: 31, “average”: 4.87}. So 31 ratings averaging 4.87.

    Is it possible to fulfil the rating/review criteria for google rich snippets with only this data? No written review?

    If so how do I need to present it? Is the average alone sufficient or do they need the count as well? Or do I need 31 individual scores that average out to 4.87?

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

    Yes this information is sufficient for Google to award the rich snippet. Google will not necessarily show the rating stars, though, they check a few things first and may choose not to show, for instance, they check the overall quality of the site, and if the review content is representative of the main content of the page or not.

    Here is a quote from one of the Google’s help article:

    We perform algorithmic and manual quality checks to ensure that structured data meets relevancy standards. In cases where we see structured data that does not comply with these standards, we reserve the right to disable rich snippets for a site in order to maintain a high-quality search experience for our users.     How do I set my products up to only have ratings and no written review? I attempted to pull in the ratings and count data from the open source but haven’t been successful so far.

    As a test I wrote a one word review and rating for a single product. It won’t allow me to leave only a rating and no written review. When I go to edit that product I can only see/edit the written review part. I don’t see the rating data anywhere.

    This is a WooCommerce limitation. I can suggest that you install the following review plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-review/ to help in adding the ratings on your products.
